Abstract

• Purification of ethyl acetate extract of Erythrina crista-galli Linn. led to the isolation of isolflavan derivative, namely, 4', 6', 7-trihydroxy-5'-prenyl isoflavan-4-ol. The structure of isolated compound was elucidated on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR spectral data and mass spectrometry. Moreover, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of Erythrina crista-galli extract were also evaluated by agar-well diffusion method and DPPH radical scavenging assay respectively.
