SEASONAL VARIATIONS OF ZOOPLANKTON SPECIES AT THE KANTHARYAR LAKE OF HLAWGA WILDLIFE PARK, MINGALARDON TOWNSHIP, YANGON REGION
Abstract
- Seasonal variations of zooplankton species at the Kantharyar Lake of Hlawga Wildlife Park, Mingalardon Township, Yangon Regionwas conducted during June, 2017 to January,2019. A total of 52 zooplankton species of two phyla, four classes, seven orders, 23 families and 36 genera were collected from the study site. The rotifers and copepods were dominant species in the lake. The abundance of zooplankton was highest in the wet season and the lowest in the cold season. Among the species, Brachionus falcatus was the most abundant and Calanoides carinatus was least abundance in study sites. During the study period the maximum number of zooplanktons were recorded in July and the minimum number of zooplankton in January.
