BRACHIOPODA FROM TAUNGNYO FORMATION, MAWLAMYINE AREA, MON STATE*

Abstract
  • This paper reviews the brachiopod fossils from the Taungnyo Range, Mon State, Myanmar. I describe here, Late Devonian to Early Carboniferous brachiopods including; Punctospirifer scabricosta, Tropidoleptus carinatus, and Tetracamera subcuneata were found in the study area. According to the discovery, each species possesses different shell outline and surface morphological features. Fossil specimens are well-preserved in the mudstone and argillite (C1t2) unit of Taungnyo Formation. The fossil brachiopods are absence C1t1 and C1t3 units. Among them, all taxa are first described in Myanmar but previously named in the world.
