ASSESSMENT ON MARKETING CHAIN OF FISHERY PRODUCTS IN TAUNGGOKE TOWNSHIP
Abstract
- This paper evaluates the marketing chain of fishery products in Taunggoke Township, located in the southern part of Rakhine State, which benefits from its coastal location. Fishing is one of the primary economic activities in Myanmar, and local residents earn their livelihoods from this industry, with various fishery products from Taunggoke flowing to other regions of the country. Both fishermen and traders rely on fishery activities for their income. The main products produced in the area include dried fish, ngapi (fish paste), salted fish, shrimp, and crabs. The objectives of this paper are to examine types of fishery products produced in Taunggoke Township, to explore fishery product sent from Taunggoke Township, to investigate marketing chain and flow of fishery products in Taunggoke Township and to predict future prospect on fishery product production of Taunggoke Township. A situational analysis and SWOT analysis were conducted to assess fish production areas. This study utilized primary data collected through field observations, interviews, and semi-structured questionnaires.
